It is generally acknowledged that only thanks to Sir Ernest Shackleton’s Leadership Skills he and his crew of 28 men survived a totally hopeless situation in Antarctica.

His key leadership principles can be applied in modern business settings and are an inspiration for leaders, especially in situations of crisis and extreme challenges.

  • Communicate credibly in a situation of severe crisis

  • Lead by example even in the harshest circumstances

  • Avoid conflicts proactively, but act determined if needed

  • Believe in your goals and act accordingly

  • Prepare for a plan B, plan C and so on – if plan A does not work out

  • Always keep the team busy with reasonable activities

  • In an emergency situation, act swiftly, decisively, give clear orders and stay calm

  • Anticipate how team members will react in certain situations.

  • Most important: Know your team – their strengths, weaknesses, needs and ambitions.

Safety is paramount to us. Learning Theory and Neuroscience has shown that we can only learn and grow if in a space that feels safe, where everyone feels safe to gain experiences.

Keeping this in mind, we want to provide challenges that are happening outside of your Comfort Zone as sustainable learning is only possible if you are stimulated emotionally.

Your Duty Will Be

  • to navigate in alpine terrain

  • to carry your needed food & gear

  • to set up camps

  • to climb a peak as a team

  • to deal with unforseen circumstances and challenges

  • to return safely with a backpack full of experiences and insights collected over the course of the program

Your Duty

The coaches will provide

basic instructions, interfere in case of safety concerns, give help whenever it is needed and will provide feedback in an appreciative manner.

As a team member you will

experience the impact of leadership on your motivation and performance in a challenging setting.
